Geauga County Beekeepers
Hi, Iām Bob Schneider, a beekeeper in Munson Township, Geauga County Ohio. You may know me from local farm markets or as a neighbor in the Chardon area. I am proud to offer delicious raw local honey from my bees directly to you. Produced and bottled on site, you are getting exactly what the bees are making. We harvest spring, summer, and fall varieties all made from our abundant natural wildflower forage. You will be able to taste the difference in seasonal fluctuations depending on availability.
I am also tinkering and working on plans for beekeeping products and tools for beekeepers. Check back later as new products are rolled out.
I appreciate your interest in our honey and look forward to seeing everyone again in person during farm market season. Thank you!

Outtakes from beekeeping
Working with the Bees
Always use smoke before opening the hives. The bees are triggered to think there is a forest fire. So, they gorge themselves on honey. Within minutes, they get very docile and are not bothered by the beekeeper. You must work efficiently to not disturb their hive too much. Once finished, the bees readily resume their normal behavior. In the top photo, you can see my son opening up a hive. In the bottom photo, you can see a hand forged hive tool we made.
busy bees
Can you spot the queen in this image? It's always exciting to inspect the bees, but especially fun when you see the queens.

extracting honey
This is what a full frame of capped honey looks like. Notice the light color. The brood frames are a darker color. As no brood was laid in the honey frames, they remain a beautiful lighter color.
beeswax
so many uses for beeswax
Here we are about to make some beeswax lip balm. First, we rendered the wax cappings from the honey extraction process. Then, we turned much of it into candles and hand lotion. Finally, we made some lip balm using coconut oil, olive oil, and beeswax. WE DO NOT CURRENTLY SELL THE BEESWAX PRODUCTS.
about us
Beekeeping since 2019 with one hive. By 2021 we had expanded up to 12 hives. The learning process is still underway, and we take beekeeping seriously.
Thanks for visiting
Thank you for joining us on this journey of learning and curiosity into the world of the honeybee. We find them fascinating and are proud to share what we have been learning with you.
I try to engage the rest of the family whenever possible. My son especially seems to share the curiosity and analytical interest in learning how to optimize success for the bees.
My daughter has more interest in designing labels, making beeswax products, and assisting with the website . Thanks for your interest in our products!
